Privacy Policy

Pezani is built around real places, real needs and real people. This policy explains what information we use to make local discovery, Quick Finder and business connections work—and the choices you have.

A note before you read

This is Pezani's plain-language privacy notice for the current service. It is intended to be transparent and practical, not a substitute for legal advice. Pezani's operating entity, regulator contacts and jurisdiction-specific obligations should be confirmed with qualified counsel before a wider commercial launch.

1. Who this policy is from

Pezani is a product of Musafari Life (“Musafari Life”, “Pezani”, “we”, “us” or “our”), a registered business in Malawi operating from Kachere Street 3, Area 49/1, Lilongwe. This policy covers the local discovery service available through pezani.app, the Pezani Android application, the iOS TestFlight beta and related business and support services.

For privacy questions, requests or concerns, contact support@pezani.app or tech@musafari.life. Musafari Life can also be reached at +265 888 206 201. Its website is www.musafari.life.

2. What this policy covers

It covers information collected when you browse the website, download or test the app, create or manage an account, search listings, save a business, send a Quick Finder request, communicate with a business, publish business information, or contact support. App stores, payment providers, linked websites and third-party services may have their own privacy notices.

3. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account and contact details: such as your name, email address, phone number, password, country, city and communication preferences.
  • Business details: such as a business name, address or service area, phone number, categories, descriptions, hours, listings, deals, events and other information you choose to publish.
  • Discovery activity: searches, categories, cities, saved businesses, viewed listings, event interest and other actions needed to keep the experience useful.
  • Quick Finder content: the need you describe, selected country or city, budget, category, attachments and any other information you choose to include. Please do not upload passwords, identity documents, financial account details or sensitive personal information unless a specific Pezani flow asks for it.
  • Conversations and support: messages, reports, feedback, screenshots and the details you provide when asking for help or reporting content.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and connection information: browser type, operating system, app version, device settings, crash details, approximate region and standard security or server-log information.
  • Usage information: the page or screen reached, referring website, time of an interaction and the type of Pezani action taken.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: the website may use essential browser storage or server controls to keep pages secure and functional. The current marketing site does not require advertising cookies or a cross-site tracking profile.

4. How we use information

We use information for the purposes below, using only what is reasonably needed for each purpose:

  • Provide, maintain and improve Pezani, including search, listings, deals, events, saved items, Quick Finder, messaging and business tools.
  • Use country, city, category and request details to route a Quick Finder request to relevant businesses and show useful local results.
  • Send service messages such as verification, security notices, responses, support replies and important changes. Marketing messages are sent only where permitted and with a way to opt out.
  • Protect accounts, prevent abuse, investigate suspicious activity, keep the service reliable and enforce our Terms.
  • Understand which pages, download actions and calls to action are useful so we can improve the experience and reach the right communities.
  • Meet legal, regulatory, accounting and safety obligations, respond to lawful requests and protect the rights of users, businesses and Pezani.

Our legal bases

Depending on the context and the law that applies, we rely on performance of a service or contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing Pezani, consent where we ask for it, and legal obligations. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it through the relevant setting or by contacting us; withdrawal does not undo processing already completed lawfully.

5. When information is shared

Pezani does not sell personal information. We may share limited information in these situations:

  • With businesses you choose to contact: a Quick Finder request may include the request description, selected location, budget, category, attachments and the contact details needed for a response. A business receives only what is needed to consider and answer the request.
  • With service providers: hosting, storage, security, email, crash reporting, customer support and other providers that process information for Pezani under appropriate instructions and safeguards.
  • For safety and legal reasons: where needed to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, investigate fraud or abuse, protect users, or protect Pezani's rights and systems.
  • During a business change: if Pezani is reorganised, financed, acquired or transferred, information may move as part of that transaction subject to this policy and applicable law.

Businesses and third-party providers may use information under their own policies once it is shared with them. Review a business's details carefully and avoid sending information that you would not want that business to receive.

6. Lightweight website analytics

The marketing site records a small number of first-party events when you choose to interact with a download or call-to-action button. These events help us understand which platform links and placements are useful.

  • Events may include “download click” or “call-to-action click”, the page path, button placement, selected platform and a timestamp.
  • The current implementation does not create an advertising profile, use third-party tracking cookies, collect precise GPS data or attach events to a Pezani account.
  • The browser's “Do Not Track” signal is respected. If it is enabled, the event is not sent.
  • Event data is sent to Pezani's same-origin analytics endpoint and should be retained only for as long as needed for launch reporting, troubleshooting and service improvement.

App-store pages, TestFlight and any future analytics provider may process information under their own notices. We will update this policy before introducing materially different tracking.

7. Storage, transfers and retention

Pezani and its providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where a transfer is regulated, Pezani will use an appropriate legal mechanism and reasonable safeguards. We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, prevent abuse and maintain reliable records. When information is no longer needed, we delete it, anonymise it or securely isolate it where deletion is not immediately practical.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the information, including access controls, transport security and monitoring for abuse. No online service can promise absolute security. Keep your password private, use a device lock and contact us quickly if you believe an account or request has been misused.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information, restriction or objection to certain processing, a portable copy of information you provided, or withdrawal of consent. You may also ask how information is used, who receives it and how long it is kept. We may need to verify your identity and may have lawful reasons to retain or refuse part of a request.

Send a request to support@pezani.app with the subject “Privacy request” and enough detail for us to understand what you need. You may also have the right to complain to the data-protection authority in the country where you live or work.

10. Children

Pezani is not directed to children under 13, and local law may require a higher minimum age. We do not knowingly request personal information from a child who is not permitted to use the service. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Pezani changes, when law changes or when we improve the way we explain our practices. The effective date at the top will change with each revision. If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention before or when the new practice begins.

12. Contact Pezani

Questions, privacy requests and concerns can be sent to support@pezani.app. You can also review the Terms of Use or visit Support for help with the app, downloads and business listings.
